  5. Installing Soft-ICE

  7. Soft-ICE and LDR can be loaded from either the DOS partition or the NetWare 
  8. system volume.  However, this release of Soft-ICE will look only on the DOS
  9. partition's current drive and directory for the SI.DAT file.  For this reason
  10. it is probably best to copy everything on the diskette to the DOS directory
  11. that contains SERVER.EXE and load them from there.  If the SI.DAT file is
  12. not found, the function keys will not be initialized.

  16. Soft-ICE and NLM-Check, Net-Check and NLM-Profile

  18. This release of Soft-ICE will NOT run while any of the other Nu-Mega NLM's
  19. are loaded.  An error message will be displayed if this is attempted.

  23. Potential problems with I/O Break Points
  24. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  25. I/O Break Points (BPIO) are supported in this release, but could potentially
  26. cause problems.  Interrupts could end up being disabled for longer than they
  27. should be.  Refer to Section 3.2 (Setting Break Points) in the User Guide
  28. for more information.

  32. Hardware interrupts that overlap processor exceptions
  33. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34. Many of the hardware interrupts on the primary interrupt controller overlap
  35. interrupt vectors for processor exceptions.  To distinguish between the two
  36. NetWare reads the 8259A In Service Register to see if a real interrupt was
  37. pending.  If the appropriate bit is not set NetWare reports a processor
  38. exception.  This can cause a problem when using the genint command or when
  39. stepping through the keyboard handler.  The problem can be circumvented by
  40. bypassing the test in NetWare's interrupt handler.
